Only dry red wine with PDO can be marketed under the brand name Egri Bikavér. A world famous wine, a traditional red blend of at least 4 different red base wines, whereas Kékfrankos has to be between 30-65%. Base wines have to be aged separately in barrels and then further aged in bottles.
As designated by law there are three different quality levels of Egri Bikavér: Classic, Superior and Grand Superior. Áldás is a great example of the Superior category, where the yield is less than 60 hl/hectare and the cool climate and all the characteristics of the wine region are clearly expressed. It is a juicy, fruity, vivid and modern red wine.
