Join us on an extraordinary journey through Hungary’s wine regions with the guidance of the country’s most talented female winemakers. Wines of Hungary and the “SAKURA” Japan Women’s Wine Awards are hosting a captivating talk show moderated by wine professional Sayumi Sawabe, featuring three female winemakers who represent different wine styles and regions of Hungary. They will engage in a discussion with esteemed Japanese wine professionals about the perception of Hungarian wines in the Japanese market.

18:50 Guests of Wines of Hungary are invited for a short walk to the Hungarian Pavilion to enjoy a standing reception and wine tasting hosted by Sarolta Bárdos, Zsófia Kövesdi, and Csilla Sebestyén, tasting moderated by Sayumi Sawabe.

Sarolta Bárdos, arriving from the volcanic wine region of Tokaj, will introduce the world’s most labour-intensive and expensive wine production method, producing the famous Tokaji Aszú as well as Hungary’s most renowned grape variety, Furmint.
Csilla Sebestyén, introducing the legend of Bikavér (Bull’s Blood), will unveil this iconic blend along with Hungary’s most widely planted grape variety, Kékfrankos, while also highlighting the appeal and versatility of Kadarka.
Zsófia Kövesdi, showcasing bold red wines from Hungary’s most visited wine district, Villány, will help explore the potential of Villányi Franc – an international variety that has truly found its home in Hungary.

Sayumi Sawabe, Managing Director of Sankyu Shokai Ltd., was the person who dedicated herself to import and promote fine wines of Hungary produced by the first members of “Pannon Wine Guild” established 25 years ago. Translated book of “Terra Benedicta – The Land of Hungarian Wine, Tokaji and beyond“ would have not been possible without her dedication.
Yumi Tanabe, one of Japan’s most influential wine educators, founder of the Wine & Spirits Culture Association and President of Wine and Wine Culture Co.,Ltd., with a great number of awards and publications behind her back, will share her thoughts and explore Japan’s place in the international wine world.
Kazumi Inose, BAR DE ONE Owner Sommelier and Vice President of the Osaka Branch of the Japan Sommelier Association will share insights into Wine network public relations and selection management as well as the SAKURA Awards where she’s been Judge Group Leader for over 10 years now.
Kanako Takeuchi dedicated to making wine more accessible and enjoyable, will present her perspective as a sommelier and manager of the renowned Osaka wine shop, Mista. With a passion for education and numerous published works, she brings a wealth of knowledge on global wines and trends.
